The importance of key words in description tags, title tags and content are a major factor in seo. Adding key words to title tags and description tags can make a big difference to you search engine ranking. I have tested this theory out myself on one of my sites and it made a difference of nine pages, and this is without any other optimisation work. You should not overlook the importance of page content, and the title and description tags.
The tile tag is the main link to your site that is displayed on the search engine results page, normally about 60 characters in length. The text below the title tag is the description tag; this gives a short overview of the web site and is normally about 160 characters long.
Page content is also another major factor, the page content is very important, search engines return the most relevant pages for the search terms that are searched for. If you want your site to be found for say the key words “Plumbers ” and a certain area or city, make sure the words ”plumbers” in London are included in the page content. It is also a good idea to use the words in the heading tags, especially the h1 tag. This tag can be used as a page heading. A lot of site owners and seo gurus say “content is king” and it is, include your key words in the content of your page, either as a phrase or split up through the text body. Write a short paragraph about the theme of your site or the product or service that you are trying to sell and include your key words.
The on page factors are can make a major difference to your sites ranking, and should not be over looked, these basic factors can make a difference of about 12 pages in some cases and can save you a lot of work in terms of link building.
